The Chelsea Netzero Residence was the first netzero energy build fully designed and built by Netzero Construction. The 3200 sq ft residence was built with ICF (insulated concrete forms) and SIPs (structural insulated panels) for impressive wall R values of up to R60. Combined with strategically placed high efficiency triple pane windows, the building has an almost unbelievable maximum heating load of just over 4kW. The heat for the building is provided via radiant floors and a dual gasification wood boiler with thermal storage tanks. The building is connected to Hydro Quebec via a two-way power meter. In the summer months the excess energy generated by the 8kW solar array is sold to Hydro Quebec, and is bought back in the winter months.
